So is msd allowed in stock class, or is it considered aftermarket? Thanks

The above quote from getrythm is not true. It has to be a factory distributor. You can however add a rev limiter to it.

"stock" motors should float the valves before they blow no since in having a rev limiter if its stock if ur afraid it will blow shift gears or pull ur toes out of the carb

Floating valves ain't good. The idea is to limit the rpm so you don't float the valves and end up running one into the piston or bend a push rod. Stock EFI engines in these classes have rev limiters built into the PCM for this purpose. So if a guy wants to add a rev limiter to protect his carbureted engine, we let him. Rest of the ignition system better be stock though.

If you're like me and you've ever had a driveline let go or xfer case jump out when your racing, it seems to take forever for your brain to tell your butt cheeks to unpucker and let go of the foot pedal you've got planted to the floor. Rev limiters are handy in such a case.
