in the stock class where no racing fuel is alowed can i use octane boost or maybe some tranny fluid so my engine dont start pinging the engine im working on is a 66 396 .030 over and i put flat top pistions with a the closed chamber heads the compression should be around 10.7 to 1 basicly its a stock over haul so now weather or not i can octane boost determians the camshaft that goes in this engine back to stock or something for mod stock

Are you sure about your compression ratio?? What is the cc of your heads?? The valve arrangement on the bbc should make it hard for you to get to 10:1

my books show from 62-69 bbc 396 as being 10:25-1 compression there was some sbc's that had 11-1. and there are places that sell 100 octane pump gas

yeah i know there is places that sell 100 octane gas but im having a hard time finding it here in the sargetn comstock ord area thats why tranny fluid or some sort of octane boost is more feasable for me plus if i do find some "good gas" its likly im going to be in the wifes car so i prolly wont have any place to store some full jugs
the reason im askin about the octane boost is i dont want any hassels or problems when it comes time to race
10:5 to 1 on the compress sorry bout the mis statment
